Persian Muslims of North America

Persians have been migrating to North America for at least one hundred years. Before the Iranian Revolution, the vast majority were students. Following the Revolution were many exiles fleeing the regime change. A third wave of immigration happened in 1995. Persians tend to be highly skilled and educated. They have been among the most successful immigrant communities and are business leaders.

Los Angeles and Toronto have two of the biggest diaspora populations of Persians in the world. For many who fled their home country, these communities are a place of refuge where they can find the food, gifts, carpets, and shopping of their home culture.
