A Muslim Background Believer Who Has Helped Reach Millions with the Gospel
S* was born and raised in Somalia in a devout Muslim family. From childhood, she was taught that Islam was the only true religion. More than that, she was taught to hate Christians because they were seen as deceived enemies of the truth.
She carried these beliefs without question. But everything changed when she moved to Kenya as a young woman. For the first time, she encountered Christians in ways that shook her understanding of everything.
Instead of hostility, she was met with kindness and love. She saw how they prayed, cared for one another, and welcomed her. This unexpected love unsettled her. If everything she had been taught about Christians was wrong, what else might not be true? Cautiously, she began to ask questions.
Over the next decade, she found herself drawn to conversations with Christians. She approached the Bible with skepticism, expecting to find proof that Islam was superior. Instead, the words of Jesus gripped her. His teachings shattered the rigid, fear-based faith she had grown up with. Instead of a distant, demanding God, she found a Savior who walked among the broken and offered grace freely.
In 2016, S accepted Jesus into her heart. She felt joy, but also the weight of her decision and initially kept her faith secret. She began posting Bible verses anonymously online, hoping other Somalis searching for truth might find them.
In 2021, she publicly confessed her faith. The following year, she founded Cornerstone Church of Somalia, an online church that has reached millions, providing a safe space for persecuted Christians and new believers to grow.
Today, S lives in a U.S. global gateway city, serving as a Global Gates missionary catalyst, sharing the gospel among Somalis in Africa and across the diaspora.
