In My Neighborhood
Global Gates
Reaching the ends of the earth through global gateway cities.
In My Neighborhood.
Tiffany Ling, Global Gates Missionary: “When the Lord called me into ministry, I had a strong heart for missions, but I didn’t have a clear sense of where to go. So, it really was that I was praying and discerning and really asking what he wanted me to do.”
“And then he showed me all his people are here and then I got connected with Global Gates and I found out that the people were not only here, they were in my neighborhood.”
Tiffany grew up in New York City.
Tiffany: “I actually skyped Chris Clayman, the founder of Global Gates, and he was explaining to me Global Gates’ vision to reach the unreached through these global gateway cities.
“And he said, “For example, in Yemen it’s almost 100 percent Muslim. It’s under Sharia Law. It is illegal for missionaries to share the gospel there. It’s illegal to even convert to Christianity in Yemen, and then he tells me all the Bodegas, all the Delis in Brooklyn are run by Yemeni Arabs.”
“And I was shocked, and I said, “Brooklyn?!” I was like, “I live in Brooklyn.”
“And he said, “The largest enclave of Yemenis live in Bay Ridge,” and I said, “That’s where I live. That’s my home.”
“So, I feel like the Lord brought them to me.”
Tiffany wants to reach the Yemeni neighborhoods of her hometown.
“One of the most impactful verses was Acts 17:26-27, which says, “From one man He made all the nations that they should inhabit the whole earth and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out and find Him …” Acts 17:26-27 NIV
“That changed my whole paradigm of what I had been seeing in New York.
Is this why New York looks this way? Are all these people here for a reason?
Did God intend for these people to come out of closed countries to places where there are Christians to share with them.”
“I actually realized that when Jesus said, “You’ll be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth,” that the ends of the earth were in my Jerusalem already.”
