Series Preview: “Nik Ripken, Muslim Background Believers, and the West”

Persecution is normal for many Christians around the world. This is especially true for Muslim background believers living in countries where Islam is the main religion and the system of rules and laws prohibit the practice of Christianity and evangelism.

Nik Ripken, a veteran missionary and author of the “The Insanity of God,” wants us to see, however, that freedom does not come from a government. Nor is it based on one’s location. It comes from God through Jesus, and with that freedom comes a demand for our full obedience to our Lord and Savior.

Global Gates Nik Ripken

We sat down with Ripken for an interview after the annual “Heart for Muslims Conference” in New York City. He answered several important questions facing the church. He shared how Christians in the west are not praying for the right thing. Ripken described how the American church is the rich young ruler. He also challenged us not to live in fear.

We compiled the content from this interview and crafted it into a multipart series of articles titled “Nik Ripken, Muslim Background Believers, and the West.” It will run here on our blog. Here is the series schedule:

  • Nik Ripken, Muslim Background Believers, and the West: “Should Christians Pray for Persecution to Stop?” (Part One of Six) – Monday, Feb. 24.
  • Nik Ripken, Muslim Background Believers, and the West: “The Pearl of Great Price or a Bucket of Pearls?” (Part Two of Six) – Monday, March 2.
  • Nik Ripken, Muslim Background Believers, and the West: “Do Not Fear” (Part Three of Six) – Monday, March 9.
  • Nik Ripken, Muslim Background Believers, and the West: “Intentionally Engaging Muslims with Gospel Purpose” (Part Four or Six) – Monday, March 16.
  • Nik Ripken, Muslim Background Believers, and the West: “Helping Muslim Background Believers Flourish” (Part Five of Six) – Monday, March 23.
  • Nik Ripken, Muslim Background Believers, and the West: “Rooting Muslim Background Believing Families in Christ” (Part Six of Six) – Monday, March 30.

Global Gates Insanity of GodThis series shows how Christians should engage Muslims and empower Muslim background believers to grow in Christ. Ripken shows us what it takes for Christians to survive, endure, and be faithful followers of Jesus while they live in the Muslim world and face persecution.

The cost of leaving Islam for Jesus is great for Muslims, but the gospel shows that the reward of knowing Christ is greater. He alone is worthy of all worship. At Global Gates, it is our prayer and the cry of our hearts that Muslims here in North America and around the world come to know the joy and peace found in Jesus. May they become disciple-making disciples, who spread God’s glory to their people here and to the ends of the earth.

So, please join us for this series, and tell your friends to check it out, too. Follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) @globalgatesinfo for updates.
