Core Value: Migration
This is the second article in a series by our Lead Team, spotlighting the core values that define Global Gates—Prioritization, Migration, Multiplication, Catalyzation, and Collaboration.
Migration: God Orchestrating World Events for His Redemptive Purpose
During my university years, I experienced a profound revelation: God has a mission. The Bible isn’t merely a collection of disconnected books but contains a unified message beginning in Genesis 3 with the prophecy that the Messiah would defeat Satan’s plans, and culminating in Revelation 7, where John witnesses people from every nation, tribe, people, and language worshipping before God’s throne.
Throughout history, God has strategically moved people and nations to fulfill His redemptive plan. This divine orchestration began with Abram in Genesis 12, when God commanded him to leave his homeland for an unknown country. God promised to bless Abram and, through him, all people on earth. This prophecy was ultimately fulfilled when God established the nation of Israel through Abraham’s lineage, from which the Messiah would come.
Later, God guided Joseph into Egypt through seemingly unfortunate circumstances of slavery, ultimately using him to save his people from devastating famine. Eventually, the Israelites were led out of Egypt and into the promised land. What followed was a tension of purpose: God blessed the Israelites so they would become a blessing to all nations, but they often received God’s favor without extending it to others. Consequently, God allowed foreign nations to conquer His people, resulting in prophets like Daniel, Elijah, and Jeremiah proclaiming the knowledge of the true God in foreign lands. By the time of Jesus’s arrival, Jewish synagogues had spread throughout the Roman world, preparing the way for his gospel message.
Jesus continued the Father’s redemptive mission by commanding His followers to make disciples of all nations. At Pentecost, we witness a miracle as Peter speaks and people from diverse nations hear and embrace the message of Jesus in their own languages. Some of the most remarkable examples of God’s sovereignty appear in the scattering of the early church and in Paul’s missionary journeys. Through persecution, divine visions, shipwrecks, and imprisonment, the message of salvation expanded beyond Jerusalem and into the Gentile world. During one such missionary journey, Paul directly acknowledged God’s sovereign hand over history when speaking to the Athenians:
“From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.” —Acts 17:26-27, NIV
In this powerful passage, Paul reveals a profound truth: God is actively engaged in human history! He determines the times and places in which people and nations exist. This divine orchestration isn’t random but purposeful—designed so that people might seek and ultimately find Him.
Global Gates was started after we recognized that God is doing something extraordinary in our time. The peoples of the world are migrating as never before, and previously inaccessible people groups are now present in major cities worldwide! Individuals like Fatema, once a Muslim living in Yemen, are making their way into the world’s cities, and there, finding hope in Jesus. Global Gates is helping these new believers take the message of forgiveness and acceptance back to some of the least accessible places on earth.
Those once far from the gospel, are encountering Jesus in Global Gateway Cities! Global Gates missionaries are building friendships, sharing Christ’s love, and discipling new believers from unreached people groups to obey Jesus’s teachings. These new believers then become ambassadors of reconciliation to their families and nations. The gospel comes full circle—through God’s movement of unreached peoples into accessible cities and then through them back into closed nations and territories.
Thank you for partnering with Global Gates to reach the ends of the earth through Global Gateway Cities. Your prayers, encouragement, and financial support are making a tangible difference. Together, we have the extraordinary opportunity to complete the task of world proclamation, ensuring no place remains where the gospel of Jesus hasn’t been proclaimed. Come, Lord Jesus, Come!
