Toronto
Overview
Toronto’s city population of 2,731,571 (2016) makes it the third largest city in North America. The Greater Toronto Area has a population of 5,928,040 (2016), making it the tenth largest metropolitan area in North America. As one of the most ethnically diverse cities on earth, Toronto vividly captures the meaning of a “global gateway city”. Half of Toronto’s population was born in another country, which is the highest percent foreign born population of any city in the Western world. And many of the newer immigrants come from unreached people groups.
