Overview

Columbus is an influential city as the capital of Ohio and home to Ohio State University. Over two million people live in the Columbus metropolitan area, and 9% of those are new Americans. In the city of Columbus, around 82% of new residents were born outside of the U.S. The third largest Somali population in North America resides in Columbus, consisting of around 40,000 Somali and 5,000 Somali Bantu. There are several restaurants that even serve camel meat! Columbus is also home to over 15,000 Indian Hindi and Gujarati speakers, as well as a growing number of West African Muslims.
