Raleigh-Durham

Overview

Raleigh-Durham (RDU) is perhaps best known by many as the Research Triangle, the largest research park in the U.S. The professional tech workers and scholars drawn to this area include many Indian Hindus. RDU also has new Americans who have come as refugees and asylum seekers, from the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Whether they have come as economic migrants or refugees, these new Americans include over 17,000 Muslims—including Wolof, various Middle Eastern Arabs, Persians, Moroccans, Pakistanis, and Somalis. Several large universities are also within the RDU region which attracts tens-of-thousands of international students.
